A night out is my oyster - a sister date

On occasion I get to go on a little sister date. These outings are good for the soul. Sometimes in the hustle of feedings, naps and bedtime routines you can lose sight of yourself. But not during sister dates. We joke around and laugh and remember how much fun we are. It had been about five years since we'd sat down to a gorgeous patter of raw oysters. Perhaps as long as our pre-baby days in Whistler.

It turns out the were in season and we were able to walk right into The Walrus and the Carpenter on this particular cold, rainy, January night. We sampled one of each variety. Some sweet, others tasted like the sea and coastal memories. We had a belly-full of oysters and a pint of something local to wash it down.

They serve them on an icy platter in order of sweetest to most briny. Even though they can be ordered sequentially form sweet to savory, they recommend eating them out of order, though. The flavors run together if you eat them in order. You can enjoy them more when you mix it up between the sweet and savory. It's kind of a great analogy for living life, don't you think? What's your favorite oyster?
