They were his first favorite pair of shoes. He liked to say that they give him blazing speed. He started wearing them when they were probably too big, and has been jamming his feet into them when they are definitely too small. But Andy loves red, and his blazing red shoes so he claims that they feel fine and wears them anyway. They are like an old friend.
I found him some new red shoes, and he gave them a spin on our little walk photographed below. Eli chased after him as fast as he could. He got some new shoes too. But his feet grow too fast to have time to establish a favorite. His new pair are the same size as his big brother's.
As a mom, these little shoes are another reminder of how fast they grow. That this time together with these little buddies as they are today is only temporary. Like when I give them a bear hug, I have to fold in their limbs now for a really good squeeze.
