Books that changed everything

I've been on a reading kick and have loved listening to books on Audible. (If you haven't yet, give it a try!). There are a couple New York Times best sellers on the list, so obviously the secret its out... but over the last six months I've plowed through a ton of books and these are the ones I have got to share.

Little boys opening the doors on a ferry boat.
Take a look inside

The most beautiful simple, compelling read. It's never too late to do the things you love. This is the book I will be gifting to all new graduates for the rest of time. It is visual and beautiful and I read the whole thing in just a couple days.

Dare to Lead, Brené Brown

A book that has changed the way I think about courage an vulnerability and how I approach giving feedback (I make sure to sit next to someone now). There is so much to learn. It helped me understand after all these years that I'm a qualitative researcher too. After reading this, I also listened to Brené's earlier work. This is the most actionable. Change your life, your work. Seriously.

A modern take on ancient stoicism. Wisdom as old as time. I would read this one, I didn't love the author's voice.

The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

A story about following your dreams. An oldie but a goodie. It almost never reached the masses, but the author wouldn't give up. He believed in his book. Beautifully read.

The only personal finance book that has ever found actually funny. I recommend listening the audio by the author, Ramit. His concept is simple: determine what a "rich life" means to you, spend on what matters to you, save mercilessly on everything else.
