Casing our neighborhood

I've sometimes wondered if the neighbors think we're casing the neighborhood. Every time I read Nextdoor reports I half expect to read a description an early 2000s white Expedition driving slowly by homes in the neighborhood. "It is suspicious" it would say. Or, "I saw someone taking pictures." I promise there is a reasonable explanation. There are two, actually.

First, we're probably just checking our a neighbor's gutters, windows, paint color, fence or roofing material. Maybe we like the style of a home or think it has exceptionally beautiful landscaping. Really, it would depend on what we're working on at the time. (Right now, its probably landscaping. Our lawn was totally destroyed so we're basically starting again from scratch). We were constantly looking for points of reference, often in the neighborhood. It was particularly hard to get a good read on gutters. Rest assured the modern, large gutters look great - you almost don't notice them from the street.

Secondly, our children won't go to sleep. If bedtime has gone particularly badly, one of us will drive the child or children around until they finally give up and go to sleep. I remember laughing when some friends told us they did this every night. It is basically punishment for the child and the parent alike. Now that is us. You can laugh or don't - your time will come!

See, it's a perfectly reasonable explanation, right?
