Choosing courage

This is me. Choosing courage one small moment, one day at a time. Photo by @jenharward

The story I tell my children is that each day we have choices. We have choices to choose a good day or be grumpy. To choose something healthy to eat or to share a toy. Perhaps the most important choice we all face every day is to choose courage. The courage to find and make our own way. And in the hustle of getting out he door, going to the office and living life, it's easy to let life happen. It passes day by day and its easier to wonder what happens to life's ambitions. The dreams. The days as and weeks and years melt away while I am wiping little butts, runny noses or just trying to survive the piles of laundry, the messes and the whining. And Lord knows there is whining. Beneath the surface there is me. Capable, talented, imaginative me.

But I choose courage. To forge my own path. This is day 74 of telling my own story. Showing up. Choosing courage. Hitting "Publish". These 74 little moments are small acts of courage that cumulatively mean something more. Because, like said by Brene Brown "When we have the courage to walk into our story and own it, we get to write the ending."
