Day in the life photography

How do you spend your days? Your weekends? Have you witnessed the burst of excitement a child expresses when they do or see something for the first time? These moments are fleeting. They are quietly slipped into the normalcy of our days. They are the beautiful, simple moments that are the reason one becomes a parent. It may be routine. It may make an errand three times as long as it would if you skipped it, but it is the thing that kids love. To capture these types of moments you need more time. More patience. More than a mini session. More than an hour. It is more than one perfect picture. To capture these, you need a Day in the Life session, or a series. Maybe a moving portrait. Because sometimes it's not just getting them to smile, but it's about how the smile spreads across their face when they think something is funny. Or how they snuggle into your chest. It is the way they look back at you with pride as they push that miniature grocery cart through the Thriftway.

My sweet niece loves to go grocery shopping. (It is funny because her mommy does.) At the Thriftway they have the cutest little shopping carts for their littlest customers. She showed me with pride her great joy for this activity and we picked up a few things for lunch. We made a morning of it and went to a few favorite West Seattle locations: Bakery Nuveau, City Mouse, and the Thriftway.

These are from a "Day in the Life" session with my sister and her family. I hope you enjoy them.
