This is our day in the life.

We woke up on Saturday to see the sun peaking out from behind the clouds. In Seattle I call this partly sunny, or a sun break. In other parts of the country you would call it mostly cloudy or just cloudy. But a sun break, that is an opportunity. So we packed up our little people and headed to the mountains.
We are dying for these little runners to become little skiers, so we thought we'd get in a couple bunny hill runs at #StevensPass. We got there and there was zero parking. Ok. There was some parking because people had already left (it was almost 2pm after all - I guess that's what happens when you decide to make a day of it at 9:30 and leave the house at 11am.) I saw a few spots from the road but they weren't letting anyone in. So we carried on to Leavenworth to see their twinkle lights. We've been making up for what we missed in December in January with fewer crowds.
We enjoyed a meal at the new Rein Haus in an amazing new building. After the sun went down the light display was in its full glory. We walked through town admiring the lights and Eli stopped in front of this toy store window as his brother had done before a few years ago. Each clutched something treasured in their hands. Face pressed up against the glass looking at the warm glow of the store and the toys just inside the window display.
We carried on to Steven's Pass after dark, and I hit the magic carpet with Anderson for a few pizza - French fry rounds. We had fun but mostly he just wanted to eat some snow. Thats ok, its not about the actual skiing, it is about having fun together. So we sat there for a few minutes while he played.
We rolled back into Seattle super late. Carried the monsters up to bed and thought, tantrums, parking snafus and all, it had been pretty great day for an adventure.
History Repeats Itself - a poem
A winter window waits
With toys and treats to taste
A little boy looks in
And holds a cheeky grin
I've seen this sight before
Once from a winter once before
Two brothers hold a case
That seems to hold their place
I wish for them to see
Just how loved they are by me
