Remember the small stuff

We walked over to the Magnolia neighborhood Starbucks for some marshmallow dream bars and hot chocolates. The boys picked out their treats then headed straight for the toy trains in the back. It's automatic, they just head straight there. It's a particularly friendly space in a small downtown. Even though we live in the center of Seattle, Magnolia has a small town vibe. It's full of families and retirees that have lived here for decades.

At the Starbucks they sit around the little red chairs, and walk around the edges of the table as they push the train around the track. As we leave, they like to look through the newspaper dispensers and usually grab one of the free magazines. There is genuine joy in these little tasks.

It's been cold, wet and dark here in Seattle. But an outing with my two little buddies brightens my day. It's a fun challenge to capture the moment when the lighting doesn't cooperate. Our family story keeps going through the sunny and cloudy days alike.
