#100DAYPROEJCT Day 11
Recently I've been working on some personal photography and film work. I observe many very highly processed, highly coordinated photos in a number of photography groups. But a single perfect shot of a family infant of a field of sunflowers or on a couch that has mysteriously appeared in a meadow just doesn't reasonate. I also know the painstaking effort to get that one perfect shot that has been post-processed beyond recognition.
So where does that leave me? I've found my way to documentary family photography, which is much closer to the photographs I love most of my family. That has expanded into an effort to form storytelling images, to apply layers and find beauty in the ordinary. To tell the stories that need to be told. And I started a new Instagram account featuring photos created by me and a friend. Check out @the.series.project
Each series has a different theme -so far we've done work with murals, reflections, airports, rooftops, and nigh time photography. It is experimental and suddenly I see everything from a different perspective. Is there a way I can look at this bus that is beautiful?
There is much more work to be done, but each of these experiments brings me new skill in my craft. Some of my favorite images were taken in darkness and rain. I hadn't considered before looking that evening rain and traffic would make everything reflective and colorful. But it did. I can see it differently now and am looking forward to making some incredible photos during Seattle's winter.
