Universal languages: A Children's Story.

I have written about about love and universal languages. My plan is to weave these into a children's story for my kids. Below is part of a first draft framework for a story. I have always wanted to write a story for my children. My goal is to transform statements of "I have always wanted to" in to actions. One small action at a time. What things have you always wished to do? I'd love to hear from you. You can email me at juliebennettcreative@gmail.com.

Grandmother's Post Cards and the Universal Languages

A little girl opened a box her grandmother gave her.

"Norah, I have been saving this for you," she told her.

She carefully opened the box and inside she found old post cards from places all over the world. Chile. Brazil. China. Italy. Philippines.

The little girl asked "Have you been to all these places?"

I have. You must travel great distances from her to get there. The speak different languages and have many customs that are different from here. But listen and watch for the universal languages and you will understand. When you discover one of the languages, send a post card home to me. I will be waiting.

Norah stared at the post cards. She didn't know what her grandmother meant. But she gave her a hug and promised she would. Then she left for the airport with her parents.

Norah's parents carefully had packed a small backpack of her belongings. They would be traveling light. She opened it and checked for her grandmother's post cards. The back of each card had a short note addressed to her.

She arrived on her first flight to Santiago. Her parents had always dreamed of trekking to Patagonia and seeing the famous Torres del Paine. Norah looked at the post card. The postcard had an address to someone's home in Viña Del Mar.

Her parents took her there. A family was waiting. They entered their home and took of their shoes. Norah smiled and received a kiss on the cheek. Her parents exchanged greetings in Spanish, but she didn't understand.
